Born and raised in Nigeria, Innocent Utomi is an award-winning chef with over 20 years of experience. Utomi joined Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar as Chef Partner in November of 2007 and is thrilled to be part of a restaurant that prides itself on outstanding food and wine, and excellent service to its guests and its community.
His longstanding passion for food began to flourish during a college apprenticeship at a French restaurant while earning his Bachelor Degree in Business Management and Finance from the London Academy of Business and Administrative Studies in London, England.
After Utomi’s studies concluded, he served as Sous Chef in le’ Renoir Restaurant from from 1988 to 1989 before becoming Chef at Gaillac Restaurant in London for two years. He then accepted the position of Executive Chef of Marks Restaurant in Rhode Island, where he remained from 1991 to 1995. He joined The Capital Grille Steak House in 1995, working his way up to the position of Executive Chef and remaining with the organization for 11 years. Utomi then ventured out on his own and opened Innocent Grill Steak and Seafood in 2006, prior to joining Fleming’s.
“I have enjoyed real family values with Fleming’s, and have found it to be a place where people truly care. Fleming’s generosity and involvement in the local community make me very proud and honored to be a part of it,” says Utomi. “I am looking forward to creating many memorable times for our guests.”
